Round 5 – Gardiner’s Run VS Kew (Won 6-3)

Rosanna top of the ladder played long time foes Kew who were second .At the half way stage it was any ones match and to their credit our boys dug deep for an encouraging 6/3 win.

Round 6 – Green Acres VS Heidelberg (Won 4.5-4.5)

What’s the old adage in match play “expect the unexpected”.

Round six played at Green Acres vs Heidelberg ,top vs fifth proved it be so true.

The drawn match 4 1/2 pts each was from a Rosanna point of view extremely   disappointing .

Two notable winners Jeff Russell 6/5 and Gary Henderson 5/4.

Rosanna remains on top on 4.5 pts second Kew 4 This week we play third place Heritage on 3.5 at Eastern, whilst Kew second play GreenAcres fourth who are on 3 pts Rosanna has a bye round 8 Kew have their bye round nine, both Heritage and Green Acres have had their byes.

The final three rounds will have a huge influence for which teams play the finals Come out and cheer the boys on.

Round 7 – Eastern VS Heritage (Loss 6-3)

Round seven was played at Eastern vs Heritage ,Rosanna top vs third place.

Further to last weeks “expect the unexpected” it rose its ugly head again.

Rosanna lost 6/3

The only bright spot of the day involved the Russell bros Greg and Jeff playing numbers one and two ,both had exceptional wins 7/6 and 6/5 congratulations to both.

I’m not sure ,but some one is accepting the praise/accolades for being an exceptional caddy who will remain anonymous, a clue initials LB Despite another loss we remain on top of the ladder, but there are three other clubs all with the opportunity to play in the finals.

As the cliche goes it’s all coming down to the wire.

Round 8 – No Home Game

Rosanna hosted round eight ,our bye round. There were four teams vying for a final’s berth. Rosanna on top of the ladder followed by Kew, Heritage and Greenacres. Round eight saw Kew drawing with Heritage and Greenacres defeating Heidelberg.

Kew are now eliminated from the race to the finals Next week the last round is crucial  for the remaining three clubs, Rosanna 4.5 pts, Heritage 5 pts and Greenacres 5pts Rosanna play Yering who have one win whist Heritage play Greenacres.

The last round next Friday is at Kew hit off time 11.15.

Round 9 – Kew VS Yering Meadows (Win 6-3)

The final round of the 2025 season was played at Kew GC.

For Rosanna to participate in the final we had to win against Yering which was achieved with a 6/3 win.

The major winners included J Burgoine 5/3 I Selbie 4/3 G Henderson 6/5 M Minarelli 4/3 T Roughley 5/4 and C Gowling 5/4 The other two clubs vying for a finals birth Heritage and  Greenacres and they were playing each other in the final round.

Rosanna had beaten Greenacres 7.5 / 1.5 but had lost to Heritage  6/3 so our preference was to play Greenacres. That match ended in a draw 4.5 pts each, but  with a greater matches won over the season Heritage finished second on the ladder  to play Rosanna in the final to be played at Yering on 11 April.

Grand Final – Yering Meadows VS Heritage (WINNERS 5.5-3.5)

Friday 11 April ,what a wonderful day for The Rosanna Golf Club it’s  Senior Pennant squad better know as the old farts had a glorious win in the finals over Heritage.

The score 5 1/2 to 3 1/2 does not truly reflect the closeness of the match.

After nine Rosanna was in a very good position with our 4 ball team of Cuff and Leggett being 5 up and some of the singles matches also being one or two up.

The weather was warmish and the course was playing “ not the best”

I’m not sure if the boys concentration wained,  Heritage regrouped and ate into our leads.

Many of the matches were finalised on the 18th while two matched extended to an extra hole.

Goods wins. Greg Russell our captain and number one player  4/3, Ian  Selbie 4/2 , Steve Dundon 5/4, Mark Minarelli one up the 4 ball eventually won on the 18th with a great chip in but Dean Leggett , he and Graeme Cuff combined like a well oiled machine

Overall a great day for the “old farts” looking forward 2026
