Local Rules


THE ROSANNA GOLF CLUB – LOCAL RULES EFFECTIVE 1/2/2020

To be read in conjunction with the RULES OF GOLF and any TEMPORARY LOCAL RULES.

Please note TEMPORARY LOCAL RULES are found in the menu on the MiScore app. 

  1. OUT OF BOUNDS

All ground beyond the line of the inside edge at ground level of the out of bounds posts (black topped, white posts) or the club’s boundary fences (excluding angled supports) is out of bounds.

  1. DROPPING ZONES

If the ball crosses the margin of the penalty area between the green topped red stakes, the player, under the penalty of one stroke, as an additional option, may drop the ball in the nearest dropping zone, even if this is nearer the hole.

When the player is using the dropping zone, the ball must be dropped within 1 club length of the drop zone marker. The dropping zone is defined by the area within 1 club length of the drop zone marker.

  1. ABNORMAL COURSE CONDITIONS

No Play Zones – PLAY PROHIBITED, relief MUST be taken

– Garden beds adjacent to 1st, 4th and 10th tees. The edge of the zone is defined by stone or wooden retaining walls.

– Staked trees. The No Play Zone is the area which interferes with the ball, the player’s stance or the area of the intended swing.

Ground Under Repair – free relief may be taken

– Damage to bunkers caused by animals.

– For a ball lying in or touching a wheel rut in the general area. But

interference does not exist for the player’s stance.

Immovable Obstructions – relief may be taken

– In addition, the player may take relief if the ball is in the General Area and an immovable obstruction is on the line of play. The immovable obstruction must be within 2 club-lengths of the putting green and within 2 club lengths of the ball. There is no relief if the player chooses a line of play that

is clearly unreasonable.

Movable Obstructions which are deemed to be Immovable Obstructions

– Stakes defining Penalty Areas.

– Stakes and guards around trees and shrubs.

– Operating hoses.

– Drop zone markers are immovable obstructions.

Players should refer to The Rules of Golf for further information,

guidance in taking relief and for dropping procedures.

Unless otherwise noted, the penalty for a breach of a Local Rule is the

general penalty.
